The mother of Alaa Milhem, 22, grieves over her dead son in the city of Maarat Al Noman on June 9, 2012. Alaa was a student of French Literature at the University of Aleppo and had been studying for exams when the shelling started. He was killed by a mortar shell fired by the Syrian Army while trying to help injured civilians around him.
